Adele

AdeleAdele Mara April 28, 1923 (died May 7, 2010) was an American singer, actress, and dancer, who was a part of films in the 1950s and 1940s as well as on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Under the professional name Adele St. Mara, she was signed to Columbia Pictures[citation required] and began to work working in the studio's "B" features and comedy shorts. The title was later changed to Adele Mara. Mara started her professional career as a receptionist for the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara and Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942), she plays the leading female role as the daughter of an escapee and falsely indicted convict. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was terminated. In Republic Pictures, she was a part of films based on westerns and outdoor adventures. The actress was featured in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch starring John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love interests, California Passage (leading lady), and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
