Amanda Tapping Biography

Amanda Tapping, an English-born Canadian actress. Her most well-known role is that of Samantha Carter on the Canadian-American military sci-fi television show Stargate SG-1. She also was the main character of the science-fiction-fantasy TV series Sanctuary. She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute, where she was a star in Environmental Science and Drama. After graduation in 1984, Tapping decided to concentrate her studies on Drama and attended the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts. She was also a part of many stage productions. She appeared on numerous television commercials as well as played a variety of roles in television and film productions including The Outer Limits and The X-Files. She also founded an ensemble of comedians, the "Random Acts", with collaborators Katherine Jackson and Anne Marie Kerr, in Toronto in the early 1990s.
